Where to buy slot 1 coolers?

One of my work's "dead" computers is a dual p3-600. The fans make a terrible grinding noise when powered up, and don't spin smoothly, etc. Who still sells slot 1 SECC2 coolers?

I usually replace the fans without replacing / removing the cooler itself, but look at Cooler Guys or 1 Cool PC if you want to replace the whole thing. They have just the fans, too. They are probably either 40 or 50 mm by 10 mm. A ruler with a mm scale will answer that. The fans just screw onto the heat sink.

The current HSFs are globalwin models. The fans clamp right to the HS, so I'm not sure an off-the-shelf fan (which would admittedly be a lot cheaper) will work. I'll look around though, and see if I could jury-rig something.

EDIT: This is what's currently on the processors. Or something very similar, since this picture shows screws, and what I have has the fans flipping to the heatsink.

I'm thinking about getting some bare 60mm fans and ziptie-ing then around the heatsink. Slightly ghetto, but a fraction of the cost and just as effective. Comments?

You could do that. If you pull the tie tight enough, I don't think anyone would be the wiser. I had a roommate that hung a fan over his processor by the mid-bar in his case from one of the expansion slot covers and it worked surprisingly well. How do you mean zip tie around the heatsink now that I think of it? Do you mean around the whole heatsink/processor length wise? I can't see it working the other way. IIRC those use a wierd clip system that attaches pretty close to the processor instead of at the ends. Perhaps you could run zip ties through those holes

You could also get these: link That's a very good heatsink and fits on the dual-P3 boards I'm aware of. You may have to lean a capacitor or two away from the rear of the CPU to allow the spring-clip to slide into place. The fans are ball-bearing fans and are prewired to take just one header.

I was thinking lengthwise, yes. Not sure how it'll work with the retention mechanism.

Using a couple of fans, I don't imagine it'll be over $5 (there's a swap meet this morning where I plan to get some goodies). Buying two new HSFs will cost me a minimum of $10 ea + shipping that I've found online. The previous post with the $18 idea would cost twice as much as that. This is just a dual p3-600 that I'm not even sure will work when I put a new vid card into it, so I don't want to drop too much money into it at this point when I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with it.
