I have a few payed projects coming up that will require me to make some network cables. I only have a few rj45 ends left and need to get more. I wanted some recomendations on some web sites that sell ends. I would like to get snagless boots also.

Menards I think has them in like packages of 5 and run 3 bucks I thought! Last time I went there they did not have any though. I was hoping to find some cheaper and in larger amounts.

I have used the solid type plugs on stranded wire before and had no problems. Have any of you used these plugs on both solid and stranded wire before?

The plugs that Bigjon linked are for solid wire. I was jsut curious to know if anybody else used this type on stranded wire also. I have before and had not notice a problem with it. I am also curious as to the difference between solid type and stranded type ends? Is the crimp point different?

I have a spool of solid wire - never tried those ends on stranded before. If you use these ends, I'd definately make sure the stranded wires were twisted well and tested after crimping.

I am also curious about the differences between solid and stranded ends..?

The RJ45 ends for solid conductor have straight copper blades inside the connector that pierce the insulation and the copper when you crimp down. RJ45 ends for stranded cable have little crescent-shaped blades. I advise using the appropriate ends for the cable you have, but all you really have to worry about is not using the stranded end on solid cable.

Ahh, makes sense there CTR. Well I think I will just get these as the spool I have is solid anyway. I was just curious as to what the difference between the solid and stranded ends as I never had both kind at once to compare. Once again thanks for all the input from you guys.
