So one of the fans in my Antec 1200 is making a faint grinding/clicking noise, and I want to replace it. I've given it a thorough cleaning, but it just won't go away. I'm quite certain it isn't debris or dust causing the noise. Just seems like it's starting to fail.

I thought it would be simple to find the black TriCool fans with the 3 blue LEDs, but I can't seem to find them anywhere. The only ones I can find are the clear plastic ones, but that's not what I want. I'm looking for the same exact 120mm fans the Antec 1200 comes with. Black, 3-speed, and blue LEDs. I can't even find them on Antec's site.

Anybody know where to get them? Anybody got any laying around?

Open a support incident with Antec. They are very good about replacing parts, often for free.
You will need the manufacturing date which is stamped inside on the bottom of the case.

I've had absolutely no luck with those tri-cool fans. I replaced nearly every tri-cool in both my Antec 900 and a family member's Antec 300 with other single-speed fans. The tri-cool's multiple speed settings are nice, but my hunch is that in order to allow high speeds, they have to be built on parts that are not every quiet. Hence the grinding noise. Plus, I always ran them on their slowest setting anyway, due to the fan noise at higher speeds. Unless you really need the three speeds, consider higher quality fans and use the motherboard to control the speeds.

And yes, I actually do think I have some blue LED tri-cools laying around. If you're desparate for them, I can try to dig them up, but as I said, I think they make some ticking noises too. PM if you're really interested and I'll check.

Just get a yate:
http://www.jab-tech.com/YATE-LOON-1...rame-with-4-Blue-leds-High-Speed-pr-3824.html

That fan on high is quieter then the antec Piece of Junk.

The medium and low speed will probably rock the old antec in CFM and noise level, but i just recomend u getting a high speed edition and slapping a rheobus.
Most likely you probably wont need it as the high speed fans are fairly quiet.

Yates dominate right now if you ask the people who knows fans.
the only fan better is the scythe GT, unless you want to get into thick fans.

What is a Rheobus?

My last PC was all Scythe but I wouldn't mind getting whatever is quieter. I was thinking Noctua but my fan knowledge is over 3 yrs old.

I only need one replacement fan because I'm going to be selling this current build soon, and I'd rather replace the fan rather than give the buyer any reason to complain. If I put it to the slowest speed it gets a bit quieter, but it needs to be replaced either way.

And yes, if it were me, I would just go with a higher quality fan. For my next build, I need maximum airflow (heavy 3D rendering), so I'm considering the Lanboy Air and (over time) replacing all the stock fans with Yate Loons.

I was reading the manual to the Antec 300 which I have and the Tri Cool fans seem to have a low db rating. Is it accurate? I'm looking at the YLs, Scythes and Noctuas and they aren't rated as quiet.
