Decided to edit this thread instead of posting a 2nd thread. Thanks to those that replied to the 1st thread.

Just like the title says. Where to buy older AMD boards new in retail packaging?

Looking for boards that will run up to 1.4 Tbirds and 1.5GB SDRAM.

The few places I have found are over priced. Would I be better off to buy them used?

Basically looking for some of the older Asus boards for Linux boxes.

P4 suffers much more from poor RAM throughput than Athlon does. Go Athlon.

There are quite a few current boards that still have DDR and SDRAM sockets (only two per kind however). The most popular of them is ECS K7S5A, using the SiS 735 chipset. It does take 512-MByte DIMMs (unbuffered only, no ECC support). I see ASUS low cost spinoff ASRock just introduced themselves with a VIA chipset board that also has this RAM slot setup.

Check this place axiontechnologies from time to time. They have a very high rating on resellerratings and have some interesting stuff on their "quick sell pages". I bought a used epox 7KXA slot A mobo that was used, but in excellant condition. I had cooked my original epox board & wanted to put my perfectly good slot A back in use. Thanks to these guys "Joila"; for $29.99 my wifes PC was back in business. P.s. ........ don't let wires that aren't supposed to touch, touch. LOL , I learned the hard way!! Good luck on your search. :) P.S. This work for you??>>>>> Asus : A7M266 Socket A Motherboard w/ AMD 761 Chipset & DDR RAM Support. Pulled & tested. OEM MB Only. (1) $99.99- save $56.01= $43.98 plus S&H.
