Hey all, as mentioned in one of my other posts I am looking to set up a new home theater. As I recently moved to the Boston MA area, I have no idea what stores are around that specialize in this area. I'm not looking for a big box store (best buy, circuit city etc.) and I refuse to step into any store affiliated with Tweeter (long story there). Of course, looking online is an option as well.

Soxfan - I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but you should definitely check out Goodwins' High End. They have some of the most esoteric gear in the world there. If nothing else, it makes for some serious eye candy, and you're likely to get the music listening experience of your life.

Tiamat - That Salamander furniture is beautiful - incredibly solid, but expensive. Sanus is a good option, it balances price / performance very well.

depending what you are looking for, I've probably been to every decent hi-fi stores in MA. the guys at spearit sound are cool, and Dick (the owner of Northampton audio, sold it to Spearit sound, and he is the store manager now)usually will take 15% off from msrp. The one in Boston might not give you any discount thou.

I picked up the majority of my stuff at Cameras Inc. about 4 years ago. Call the Arlington store and ask if they still carry A/V gear in the store. If they do, it's definately worth a short trip.

I agree with RupTheKid: I'm using this Salamander rack and Sanus speaker stands.

edit: good news, they have even more A/V stuff now

Why not go to an actual furniture store. Most manufacturers are beginning to produce HT lines of furniture. Check out Lane, Hooker, Drexel and Thomasville to name a few.
