What are some good places online to buy headphones, like the sennheisers or grados, for gaming? Only places I've seen are headphone.com and JandR. Any others?

Thanks

Try buying it on the "Web". The "Web" is best searched with "Google.com" as well as "PriceScan.com" and "Pricewatch.com" =)

When I bought my Sony MDR-v900's I just put the model number in here. The search came up with a bunch of places, I ended up finding them close to $100 below retail... :)

I ordered my Grado Sr-60s from Headroom. Their site is: www.headphone.com
They were very good with customer support. If you go to www.headwize.com and check out the discussion forums you can see what headphones are generally considered "good" and "bad". Good luck.

Wondering, how much are you currently willing to spend? And is your primary concern audio or gaming?

-Chu, who knows WAY too much about headphones :\

Oh, and a warning about Grados. Grado's arn't called the worlds best rock headphone for nothing, but for gaming, these absolutly SUCK. In games where 3D positioning is crucial, you can't tell jack about where sounds are coming from with these headphones. You are warned . . .

Chu, I will be using them mostly for gaming, some for mp3's but mostly gaming. Right now I'm leaning toward the sennheiser 495's. Probably willing to spend up to $150.00 but thats about it. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Chu, what are you talking about? I have a pair of Grado SR60s and they are great for gaming. If you are talking about A3D, AFAIK all implementations of A3D in games suck, not the headphones. The A3D demos are the only programs which show A3D's true beauty, and it can be noticed with any headphones and speakers (2 or 4 speaker setup).

Anybody have these. Denon AH-D950. The guys over at headwize recommended them to me. I'm looking for a closed headphone that I can use for everything. Games, DVD, music. You name I'll be using it.

You don't want to buy the Senn's if your not going to buy a headphone amp. The impedience is just too high.
As for why I think grados suck for gaming . . . I've had this debate over and over on Headwize, and people seem to agree. My current main audio headphone are Grado SR-125's. Prior to these I owned a set of Sony MDR-V300's (which are HORRIBLE headphones). With the sony headphones and EAX, I can position well enough on de_dust (counterstrike) to sit at the CT end of a tunnel with a gernade, and bounce it off the wall past the 2 crates to hit a terrorist coming through the tunnel. That's how good they position. The sony V6 are the same in this reguard.
With my Grado's, I know that he's "somewhere that way," and when he jumps across the opening and sees me with my gernade, I now know he's "somewhere that other way". I get an accurate sense of direction, but absolutly NO accurate sense of distance with my grado's. I originally thought this was because the Grado's and Sony's position differently, and I just had to get used to them, but after one month with my Grado's, my clan started to really bitch at me.
Now, for anything audio, I go with the grados. For anything gaming, it's the sony's.

The V700DJ is horrible. VERY low impedience + VERY high detail = absolutly ear wrenching sound. Plus, the impedience is slow low that an amp makes it worse! The V700DJ is like a subwoofer for your ear. Your gonna get a TON of base, but everything else is muddled or piercing. These are horrible :(
