Where to buy good and cheap cables and power center surge strips?

ebay has about only 10-20% off retail...
Whats the cheapest place to buy?? dont care if its used or new.

Def. needs to be Monster or comparable (dunno wht other brand compares to it, monster warrants all equipment up to 300000 thats connects to it).

thanks

I've always found eBay to be the cheapest. With the prices on monster cables, 10-20% off is fairly huge depending on the kind of cables you're buying.

I need the Monster power center ... its noise cancelling (noise in AC signal) and it warrants all ur equipment from any surge

Good luck getting Monster to cover your equipment if anything happens.

Surge protector warranties are notoriously hard to collect on.

well..not just warranty.
Has anyone noticed real difference between regular vs. monster protector? The HTS 800, HTS 1000 have noise cancelling capabilities.

PureAV is a similar brand. Although I have a Monster powerstrip, I don't own any of their cables as they are overpriced. If you're looking for speaker wire, don't waste your money--go get some lamp wire. It's just as good. As for cables, again: Monster is ultra-overpriced. Over at AVSforums, many people recommend buying from Pacific Cable.

I did notice less noise in the analog SDTV signals on my HDTV after I put mine in.

25,000,000 people WITHOUT Monster power conditioners can't be wrong...

what noise? THats BS. If you are getting noise from your cable line, get a GROUND LOOP ISOLATOR. Thats what you really need.

ok..cables aside,
What about the Surge protector?
From ppl who own/use them...can u comment on whether it improves the quality or not??

for cables, i use accessories4less for surge protectors i usually use either ups' or some decent brands i find on sale, i have a couple belkin and such, as well as some older panamax that i spent a bundle on

I have three cyber power ones, $25 at osco 😉

I have suggestions in my sig for other cable places.

thanks guys.
I have a "Digital Audio Out" from my time warner box. Should I use that for better sound quality than composite audio (R,W) cables??
What kind of cable do I need exactly for that? It looks like any other composite jack, but its black in color? And I would need a splitter to send it to R,W composite for the tv... can someone suggest some?

Also, does it matter whether these cables are Glod plated or anything...I saw some Monster Audio cable at Target for 12 bucks..but could not find "Digital Audio" tp composite cables..

Yeah I like ac4l.com, great prices. Check out the Panamax outlets there or panamax.com. For cables bluejeanscable.com seems to be pretty popular on the audio forums. I have Monster cables and outlets and no complaints here, nothing wrong with them except for the price. For example the outlet I bought was regularly priced at $140 but I found it for less than half that on Froogle.

That's a digital coaxial audio output.

You just need a 75ohm RCA cable (like a yellow video cable should be) to use it.
Your tv probably doen't support that though, and even if it did, it probably wouldn't make any difference at all in quality using tv speakers.

If you get a receiver/speaker system going, then it could have some advantages. I don't have cable, so I don't know if some stuff comes DD encoded, but if it does, this would allow your receiver to get the DD signal and decode it while the analog connection wouldn't.

For a good surge protector, I highly recommend APC's old 8 outlet Surge Station with phone and coax protection. Compared to APC's newer surge protectors they look a good bit more beefy inside. It may not be as nice as that Monster Power conditioner but I'd trust APC more. Since they're phasing them out you can get a refurb from APC's Factory Outlet really cheap. I remember when they cost over $50. Link

Or if you want to spend a lot of money you could check out the Brick Wall but I'm not 100% convinced these surge protectors are as great as they claim.
