where to buy cheap soldering iron?

basically i've never soldered before... but this crappy coolermaster "dual storm" fan's speed controller ripped off when it came out of the box, and it'd be an easy soldering job...

so where to get a cheap soldering iron?

As others have said, WalMart or Radio Shack (RS would have a bigger selection of irons and solder. Rosin core works nicely)

Since it's your first time soldering, make sure you google for a couple of "how to's" before you get started. Proper technique can make it much easier, plus it may give you some idea about how powerful (watts) of a soldering iron, type of tip, etc. that you'll want for your project.

goto Lowes ... cheapest (compared to RS and WM) about $7.49 ... includes everything needed ...

I have this one.

Heats up nearly instantly, has a light, and a trigger. Much better than a regular iron, unless you're doing precision work.
