Where to buy (cheap) Furniture?

So I'm moving into a new appt. soon and need to buy some new furniture since the stuff I have now is going to my brother. I need to buy a desk, dresser, comfortable full back chair, and a mattress, but I think the mattress set I'll just buy locally.

Anyway, is a place like Office Depot my best bet? I'm a poor college student (arent we all) so just need something that looks decent but works well. Can't spend more than like $170 on each item....

any suggestions? Other than used, need to have it delivered

Thanks

craigslist I'd have to go pickup and I have a small car, won't really work. Places online I can get shipped for usually not that much $...and its new yay. But i do realize craigslist is a ton cheaper...its too bad

Yard/garage sales. You'll have the issue with getting stuff home, but when we've had garage sales in the past, I delivered the stuff...for a fee.

Definitely a good place for furniture. Also check out a local newspaper's classifieds section.

Each of those item will fit just fine individually on the roof of a small car. Protect the paint and finish, of course, by using a blanket or something. A couple of well-placed bungies, and you're set. It looks silly, of course.

(I wish I had a picture from Wednesday - I drove 45 miles with two large dog igloos on the roof of my Mercury Sable.)

Goodwill?

That's a good thought too - the places like goodwill, salvation army thrift stores, etc., sometimes have really nice stuff there. We used to go there when we were in college; scored a cheap, but in great shape, pool table for $15.
