I need to buy some case screws. Mostly need some more screws for my HDD rack, a couple more standoffs for the mobo and a couple screws for the mobo. It's not necessary, but I would like to buy some more screws to have 4 in each side of my optical drives instead of 2.

What is the best place to buy case screws?

Thanks in advance,

Check your local hardware store. Most any screw will work if they are the right size. Get a few samples off your case/motherboard and head down there. It will probably end up being cheaper, too.

http://www.compgeeks.com sells a baggie of computer hardware for less than $2. + sh. But you can also get it with a set of cable for less than $3. The one bag I got in the kit with drive cables had standoffs with No.6 thread on the bottom and included several sizes and types of screws as well as some of the old-fashioned plastic standoffs. I cut off the tip off of those that used to fit into a slot on the mobo tray and use them in some of the mobo holes that aren't true mounting holes for added support.
. http://www.cyberguys.com also sells each type of hardware separately and in assortments, but you have to know exactly what you want as their descriptions don't include proper size info except for maybe the length of the threaded part of the screws. You have to know that hard drives and most cases use american size No. 6x24 thread screws - the shortest possible for hard drives (3/16" or less), length doesn't matter too much for case screws. Some few cases use metric (e.g. Lian Li) or No. 8x24 screws. Floppy drives and optical drives usually use the ISO (metric) fine thread screws. For drives you want shortest length possible. Standoffs are usually .25", but some few cases use another size. They also come in various threads and sometimes 6x24 on the bottom and ISO in the top or vice versa, as well as the more common where they are the same size on top and bottom. Cyberguys uses coarse (#6x24) or fine (ISO/metric) instead of proper size designations... Don't ask me why - perhaps they don't know themselves. Scary!

2nd cyberguys if you have a need for more stuff. I mean, if you dont need much, go to the local m&p and buy them.

Get some.
Currently out of stock. I link these right here, because these are the best thumb screws you will ever find. Coarse thread, so if they can fit in the space, they can be used for mobo and HDD mounting (I think mobo would be a bit too cramped), and of course for securing side panels and PSU. You won't regret getting a dozen or so of these screws.

Most websites will actually have more along the lines of what you are asking for, though--just goodie bags saved from motherboards and cases that they have used to build PCs.

Those brass screws look nice, but I think the threaded part is a bit long to use on HDs, I'd have to use some washers with 'em to feel comfortable. I get 10-packs of the generic nickel-plated steel thumbscrews for 50 cents at http://www.CPUtopia.com and don't have to worry about the corrosion effects of dissimilar metals. On my last order I bought enough so I'm set for life ;) ...
I have also used the brass No.6 mobo standoffs as HD screws, with washers of course.
