Anyone know where to buy car bras? I have a 1998 Hyundai Elantra. For some reason the paint on the front of the car below the hood is peeling off. I'd like to cover it up. I searched on carparts.com but couldnt find it there.

Try here. Click on the link at the bottom of the page for "colored bras," which are really nice looking, though more expensive than the standard black variety.

from your car dealer. they make the best fitting one, although they do rip you off.

i bought one for my nissan sentra for $85 shipped from www.nissan-accessories.com to cover up a dent. didn't want to pay for a new bumper and paint.

Thanks mollymawk, found one for $84. The colored ones are expensive - $294. Are they easy to install? If I bought it from the dealer it would be $130. Not sure if its worth it.

tontod, these are a cinch to install. Literally. You cinch them with a self-adjusting tightening system. Unless you are a handicapped person, I wouldn't pay the dealer an extra $46 for the five minutes of labor that it takes to put one of these on a car.

mollymawk, its even worse than that. They'll charge an hour of labor - $70 extra to install it, a complete ripoff.

here is a tip, dont buy a car bra
First - it voids the warranty on your paint.
second - they arent too appealing ( to me at least )
Third - itll ruin the paint under there even more
so go to your dealer and get it checked out it might be under warranty

I bought this car used. Its not the original paint, so it wont matter about voiding the warranty on the paint. As it is, the paint is peeling off, so I'm not worried about making it worse. I think there was a dent and someone put some cheap paint on the front. I guess the incident was minor or didnt get reported since I didnt notice anything unusual on carfax.
