Where to buy BFG 6800 OC?

Every Best Buy in Oregon where I live has none in stock.

Frye's Outpost says they won't have any more until after Christmass and even then they can't say when they'll get them ...

Other online retailers I've seen either have them priced too high for me or have none in stock or both ..

Any suggestions as to where to purchase one?

PS: This is the last 6800 thread I will start, I promise.

Well you got a different response from Outpost than I did. I ordered mine the weekend after Thanksgiving when they were listed in stock still, but when it came time to ship out on Monday, they were not in stock any more.

When I called, the guy on the phone told me that he would keep my order ready and ship me one as soon as they arrived. When I asked him, he said he was not sure when it was due to arrive, but there was a shipment from BFG for this coming Friday (10th) as well as the Friday (17th) after that.

Considering everyone and their brother is out of stock on this card, I am thinking that BFG has not made enough and they are backordered.

Your information is probably more correct than mine about the after Christmas shipping date. We will just wait and see, but if I do not get my card this week or some form of update, I will cancel my order.

Outpost told me there were sixty people on backorder. I just called BFG and the person I spoke to said Outpost didn't have any more of the cards on order from them. She suggested the person I spoke to at Outpost might have mixed up this card with another but I was very specific when talking to Outpost, so now I'm not sure what to think ...

I ordered it about 2 1/2 weeks ago from outpost.com , and called them recently and was told that the
estimated time to ship mine was about dec. 9.
Damn I hope the person I talked to is right.

For your sake I hope so too, justame.

For me, I think I'm just going to go ahead and pick one up from the local Best Buy, which claims they'll have them in stock again next week. I'll have to pay $300, which is $50 more than Outpost (not counting shipping) but at least I can stop THINKING about the damn thing. Sometimes I think I buy consumer items just so I won't have to think about whether or not I should get them and from where, anymore.

I mentioned this in another thread, but since this one is still going I'll mention it here:

I bought my BFG 6800 OC, from Best Buy, two days after the big sale had ended, but I still got it for $270. I bought Half-Life 2 as well, and my total came to $309 (no taxes here in Oregon.) Anyone still looking for one should check and see if they can get the same deal.

Mister Dark,
Just to make it clear did you have to buy half life 2 with the Bfg 6800oc to get it for $270 ?

Because I called outpost.com again and now they say they don't know when they will get more in stock, dammit,
I'm waiting on this card so I can put a new system together.

And at this point I'd be willing to pay the extra $ to get the Bfg now, but If I have to buy half life 2 also,
I probably can't afford it.

Got mine from best buy. 220 after rebate for a bfg 6800 OC (unlocked) 🙂 , far cry, and half life 2!!!!!!

Whoah, was that a promotion or something? I've heard of GF6 cards coming with Far Cry but Far Cry and HL2!?

I hate to tell you this - but I'm not sure.

There WAS a special deal - that's the deal big4x4 got - where if you bought HL2 and the BFG 6800 together, you could get something like ten percent off AND a rebate coupon that you could send in to get $105.00 back. (big4x4 - did you get your rebate already? It's supposed to take at least eight weeks ... ) That deal ended on Dec. 5th. I knew about it, but I called around and every Best Buy in my city said they were out of the BFG cards ... Then I called a Best Buy on Dec. 7th and - mysteriously - they had a whole SHELF of them. I drove out there that day, depressed because I missed the big deal, but I thought f_ck it, I'm just going to pay the full price for the BFG - $300. Since HL2 was on sale for $40, I decided to pick that up too (it's the main reason I wanted the new card in the first place.)
I knew that the sale was over, but I asked the cashier to check if there were any deals when she rang me up anyway - not really thinking I'd get one. But I did - the BFG for $270. I don't know if that was because I bought it with HL2 or not - and I don't think the cashier knew either. That's just how it rang up. Then I asked her if there were any "rebates" and she said her machine said there were but it wouldn't come up for some reason (I knew the reason - the rebate had expired). So I was just going to be happy with what I got, but she insisted I go over to the customer service counter and tell them my rebate wouldn't pop up on the register.
So I go over there and tell the customer service guy and he takes my recipt and punches up some numbers. "Wow - that's a hell of a rebate," the service guy says. He hands me a coupon for the $105.00 rebate. "So I can still send this in?" I ask and he insists I can. You can look at the top of the coupon and it has the expiration date 12/5/04 - and below that the date of my recipt - 12/7/04. But what the hell, I'm going to try sending it anyway and see if they'll give me the cash. Can't hurt to try, right?

"mister dark...did it come w/ farcry?"

Yes, FearoftheDark, it did - in the box. (Just so there's no confusion, it does not come with HL2, but if you buy them together, you may still get a deal, I don't know. I don't even know if that's why I got $30 off ... it is why I got the $105 coupon though ...)

Even if I don't get the $105, I still think it is a great deal and I'm happy with the card and both games - HL2 is the best, most engrossing game I've ever played.

Moral of the story? ALWAYS ask the cashier at Best Buy to check if there are any specials and/or rebates with your purchase ... You just never know.
