Where to buy and how much for Portable AC Unit?

Anyone know where I can buy a portable AC unit that isn't a window unit? What is the cost range of them? This is just going to be for a small dorm room.
 
i heard the portable ones that stand straight up dont cool very well. even in small enclosed areas. i could be wrong though. i think i went to k-mart yesterday, and there was a mount unit which would go into your windows for like $150.00 bucks!!

Free-standing units. Blows, cool air, but WILL NOT cool the room unless you duct it to outside since it will be excreting the heat+the motor heat into your room. Actually it will warm up your room.

Split unit. Very expensive and requires a professional contractor to install it.

Window unit: cheap and it actually cools the room.


One thing to keep in mind is air conditining doesn't "create" coolness. It simply carries a heat from one point to another. You'll have to drill a hole in the door or a wall and dump the heat into: hallways, adjacent room or outside.
