My wife's crt is really showing it's age now. I was thinking of giving her my 22" IBM C220P and picking up a FW900 if I could find one for around $350 or so. I found a couple of places but if I could get some opinions on where to buy that would be great.

i got mine on ebay very recently from some ebay store that sells tons of hardware from various warehouses... the price was pretty good, but the key was that they were close by to where i live and i was able to pick the monitor up locally. this is important because:

1. you save ~$100 on shipping
2. the warehouse ppl were very nice, let me test the monitor b4 i took it home... i found it had a scratch in the glare filter, so they brought out 4 more to choose from and i was able to hand pick a perfect one
3. i got mine with a 30 day warranty... if it died in that period, i'd be able to return it and avoid another $100 on shipping

the fw900 is a great monitor... for <$300, it blows away anything else (LCD or CRT) in that price range.

I also have a FW900 which I purchased on ebay. Best monitor I've ever owned!

I also picked mine up, probably at the same place you did Brikis98 in Lawrence, MA. ;)

Wow, I've been searching on ebay and it seems these are going for around $400 + $150 shipping. (most of them are grade B also) I can't find any in my area so that sucks. :( I'm pretty close to just ordering the 37" Westinghouse.

Hmmm....what to do... lol

Yeah, $999 is a lot more than $350 but with free shipping and a 1 year warranty it wouldn't be too bad. Still a bit much though. I think I might just get a 37" 1080P Westy.

i don't know what requirements/needs you have from the monitor, but here's a thread with a nice deal. it's a 22" LCD, which prob has a 22" viewable area, which is only .5" less than the fw900. the specs list it at 16.7 million colors, good contrast, refresh rate and brightness.

of course, you would be stuck at the 1680x1050 resolution, but if that's not an issue, that's a hard deal to pass up.

Thanks for that link. Looks nice. I would probably buy it today if only it was available. :p
