Reseller Ratings .COMOriginally posted by: dstroot
Thanks - looked on pricewatch but can't seem to find any seller ratings - I am I missing something...??
At quite a premium over most other stores!Originally posted by: Viper96720
Newegg has them
Read the review and decide for yourself. I'm going to get 2 for a new system I'm building in a couple months and RAID 1 them for the best possible performance.Originally posted by: BlinderBomber
Are they really worth it?
No I do mean RAID 1, better read performance comes with a RAID 1 setup. I learned a long time ago not to trust desktop class hard drives. I'm still not sure about the Raptor even though it has the Enterprise label attached to it.Originally posted by: adhoc
You mean RAID 0 (striping)? RAID 1 is redundancy, for integrity...

j/k
use pricewatch and look up the company's reseller rating, there are a bunch of good places: Atacom, Monarch Computers, Essential Computer...
No, Raid 1 IS for redundancy.
"RAID-1 maintains an exact mirror of the data on one disk on another disk. If one of the active RAID disks is removed (or fails), the data are still intact. If there are spare disks available, and if the system survived the crash, reconstruction of the mirror will begin immediately on one of the spare disks. If there is no spare disk, the system will continue to run on the remaining good disk, until you can obtain and install a replacement disk. RAID-1 is an effective, inexpensive way to help to ensure that your system stays up when you have a hard disk failure."
RAID-0 is for speed. Another AT guy striped his two Raptors and got very impressive results.
in RAID-1 you have twice the number of heads going, so I think read speeds improve somewhat without the reliability problems of raid 0
