Where to buy a good bed at a decent price?

Does anyone know of any good online site or any Southern California stores? I've looked at Ikea and Pottery Barn and either it's a bit too less bang for the buck or a lil too much buck for the bang, either way it didn't seem worth it.

i'm shopping for a platform bed myself. I agree with you. the ikea stuff is just too low quality. And the Pottery Barn is a bit overpriced (got my eyes set on the Valencia bed)

Some places I've checked are:

Total Bedroom

and of course, eBay.

Even after shipping, it's still a lot cheaper than some of the other places I've seen.

VietDude, not sure what you mean by Ikea is too much bang for your buck, and therefore not worth it... The Sealy mattress from Costo and the Dalselv bed from Ikea would be a good first bed. Or just get the matress and box spring and a metal frame.

Heh, my bad. Yeah, I would definitely agree that anything at Pottery Barn is ridiculously overpriced, and at Ikea the selection is limited and their budget beds are very obviously budget beds.

Have you posted pics of your bed? I remember seeing a picture of the corner when you were trying to figure out how to attach the legs, I'd like to see the final product.

I was thinking about building a bed out of wood myself but I don't have all the tools I need to like cut wood. If only I did I would try. :(

You can pay a little extra to have the wood place cut stuff to size. I do it all the time, since I moved to an apartment. They do a good job, it saves me a lot of time, and it's easier to carry the pieces around.
