where to buy a couch?

Time to get rid of the futon🙁 I tried to keep it, but my gf stood her ground and threw all my cards of the table. I will miss thee.....

well....we went shopping for a leather couch. We went to Jordan's, Bernie and Phylls, and the wood wasteland that is Bob's discount furniture.

Anyone recommend any other place? They are little more than I thought (I was thinking $600, but the one we liked was $700). We were gonna jump on a Bob's discount furniture deal ($999 for a couch and two lazy boy chairs), but man, you really get what you pay for.

We found one at jordan's for $700, but we also found one that I like at Bernies for $800... any recommendations (or coupons)?????

Depending on your budget, you may want to spend more on a place that has a better, longer warranty.

$1000 sounds rough for a couch, but consider that you'll use it for 10-20 years if it's quality stuff. Many people pay more for coffee over that same time span.

Try Wickes Furniture if you have one around you. They just recently announced they're going out of business, so you might be able to find some good deals there.

I found mine on a street corner. it was free.

did it come with free bugs and mice?

heh. Actually, a neighbor (big apartment complex) was moving out, so it only sat out there for about an hour at most. Bug and rodent free, as far as I know anyway, haha.

yeah....it took my gf to get that through my head. The accountant taught the engineer. The one at Jordans had vinyl on the sides and back (you culd not tell though. my mom has one of those vinyl on the back couches and you can easily tell)....I do not know if that is a good or bad thing.

I didn't like Wickes, we bought a dining room table there and I didn't like the experience, still follw the deal...

We just bought a couch loveseat and chair and a 1\2 from Ashley's furniture and I think the price to quality ratio is high.

I get everything from IKEA. Its cool, if I move I can take apart all of my furniture.

Actually - I don't think it's real leather, but it feels real damn nice... Big Lots. I kid you not. They have all kinds of kickass prices on furniture.

Most definitely great if you aren't picky about colors/styles and you aren't looking for something to last a decade or more.

It looks like most of BigLots furniture is manufactured by Ashley or Broyhill, but marketed under a different name.

Check Costco. Not much selection, but if they have what you want the price is going to be good. Furniture has a lot of markup, and Costco limits their markup.

Hit up craigslist and garage sales. Just take a UV flash light with you. LOL
We got our current couch from a garage sale, it was in great condition and looked brand new, they were moving and didn't want to take it. We paid $30 for it.

Garage sales are win. Especially for poor college students. I'm probably going to do that next year...
