where to buy a 40d??

I'm looking to upgrade from my rebel XT - trying to decide between an XSi, T1i, or 40d, possibly a 50d if I can find a good deal on one.. Right now though, I'm really hoping to find a good deal on a new or refurbished 40d - I can't find anything out there though.

does anyone know of places online selling the 40d? - body only preferred, I've got enough decent glass with my XT already.

the buy/sell/trade forum on http://photography-on-the.net/forum/ is pretty active.

also the FS/FT section here has them from time to time.

though either of those is necessarily used.

otherwise you're going with ebay, adorama/b&h refurb, keh, etc.

adorama and b&h aren't stocking them at the moment - that was the first place I checked. Amazon has a kit for $980 but that seems pretty steep to me. Hoping to stick to new or refurb and get at least some sort of warranty.
 
cameta offers a 6 month warranty on practically all of its used stuff, but their prices are high enough you might as well buy new.
 
Craigslist if you keep an eye out you should get a decently priced one though sometimes folks will try to list a very high price.

If going through Craigslist and it's local, meet in some well secured safe spot. For instance, in the local mall next to the security station or help desk. Depending on how your local bank is set up, some of them have lounge styled areas as well. DO NOT GO TO THE SELLER'S HOUSE OR ASK THE SELLER TO COME TO YOUR HOUSE. DO NOT MEET IN A NON SECURE LOCATION SUCH AS A PARK.
