where to buy 1000' network cable

What do you want it for? Keep in mind that there's a LOT of different kinds of cable.. Plenum vs. non-plenum, stranded vs. solid core, etc.

In general, for long cable runs that terminate on a block or a wall plate, you want plenum, solid-core cable. Just be careful, solid-core can be touchy stuff and the cores can break if you fuss with it too much.

If you want to make patch cables, use stranded core. Actually, for that matter, DON'T make patch cables. Stranded is to hard to punch for most people. The pre-made (by a machine) patch cables are cheap and will be a lot more reliable.

Note: Don't make your own solid core patch cables - If you move it around too much, you'll break the conductors. This causes really flakey, hard-to-diagnose problems and will be a major pain in your rear. Pay for commercial patch cables, it's worth it.

That being said, Geeks has sold a zillion of those kits - It's a GREAT deal if that's what you need.
