Where the hell is the Nikon D4!!!

I doubt that was the reason.

Nikon has been like clockwork with these things. Every 3 years IIRC. And now they are behind and I doubt it was earthquake related unless they just can't get them made.

But I would guess that they design work has been done for a long while. Probably started on the D4 right after the 7000 was done.

I'm curious what the D3X and D3S are missing to make the appearance of a D4 so pressing.

Dates from dpreview's articles:

Nikon D1 – November 2000
Nikon D1x – February 2001
Nikon D2H – July 2003
Nikon D2x – June 2005
Nikon D3 - April 2008
Nikon D3x - February 2009

Looks like 2012 is right on target, it took 3 years between the D2x and the D3.

Huge advancements in CCD technology.

Best guess is the D4 is 24mp similar to the 3x, but with the ISO of the 3s which would be a huge improvement.

And then all the movie stuff new auto-focus engine and some other goodies for sure.

And a price tag to match 🙂
