Last I heard Nvidia just going to merge the 55nm GT200s into the existing SKUs, sometime in Jan 09.

The GTX295 is the only new card that's coming out soon, which will be a dual GPU card.

WTF is up with the peeps at nvidia?!!? I love the products that they make but they create so much confusion that you have to go through each products specification sheet with a James Bond decoder ring just to see which version/revision of a card you are looking at. Again I'm gonna ask...... What's in a name? I think Nvidia is following the lead from George Foreman.

What kind of performance increases are expected with the GTX 290 vs the 280?

we can't be sure but rumor mill so far said that there won't be any change to the specs, not even to the clock speeds

It's turkish i think.

So GTX260+ mid january and GTX285 + 260GX2 late jan early feb. Your step up should be fine.

I think the theory behind the later 285 release is that not many chips of the wafer are perfect and they will need time to bin enough of these to put together a release.

GTX 285 is the 55nm refresh of GTX 280, with faster clocks as well as higher shader clock ratio. GTX 290 will probably be the name of GT212 with extra shaders, that will come out to fight RV870 or before that.

If GTX 295 is MSRP 499, GTX 285 should be ~350?

Listening to the rumor mill, it will NOT be called a GTX 290, but a GTX 285.
