Where the heck would I go about finding a Guinness pool cue?

So, I've recently taken up pool, and I'm ready to take the plunge into gettng a cheapo cue, in the $20-50 range. I'm looking at getting a 2 piece option, and while I can find bud, bushe, coors, miler cues everywhere, I can't find a guinness one. I've checked ebay and done google searches to no avail.

I've actually seen a few (before I was interested in buying one) being used at the local halls and bars here, but never asked where they got them because I wasn't interested in purchasing.

Any ideas of where to track one down?

If you're serious about getting into pool, pick up a cheap Cuetec to start learning with. The Guinness etc stuff is crap, just some novelty stuff.

Other options are Sterling or McDermott Sneaky Petes, should be right around your price range. Ebay is your friend.

And try to find a local shop that'll help you change your tip, makes a HUGE difference. Took my Joss in to get shaft sanded and new tip, shoots like a dream now, best $40 I spent.

At this point it's nothing I'm super serious, but I may head that way. In the past month I've gotten significantly better, to the point of where I can hold my own against other occassional players... obviously not as good as what I would consider even a mediocre player, but probably a bit ahead of myself for how long I've been playing.

My roommate owns a Muecci cue which is really, really nice... of course, I couldn't nearly justify what he paid for it, but he plays daily so I guess it's a matter of priorities. I thought he was going to kill me the first time we went playing together and he saw me getting ready to break with his prized cue :p

another vote for McDermott. I learned to shoot with one. They are great sticks, and can be found pretty cheap. Start learning with a good stick and it will help out alot.

Heh, I actually break with my Joss and my buddies think I'm nuts. 12.5mm shaft, I hate shooting with 13mm. Don't care too much for the shaft honestly, waiting for an excuse to upgrade to a Predator.

I actually like Cuetec as a beginner cue. Fiberglass = no deflection, means it won't squirt since english feels horrible but at least you'll learn to shoot straight which should be the main priority for all beginners.

My local shop has a custom cue w/ 9mm shaft or something like that, owner even let me try a couple masse shots with it (he would've killed me if I missed hehe). OMG that was a beautiful cue, almost tempted to pay the full $600 for the cheapy version.

Honestly, 3 most important parts of a cue are tip, shaft, and joint (in that order). Everything else is just for looks. The way a cue feels when you shoot, that's what you should be paying for. Best thing to do would be to go down to a shop.

I still don't think you should get a Guinness cue, the novelty cues are generally crap.

Yeah, if you're really trying to improve your game, a gimmick cue is not what you want. You can get a decent entry level one from around $100...check billiard forums. Hell, I might even sell you my old Cuetec, since I shoot like once every 3 weeks now. :( :p

good luck! And if at all possible, take a few basics lessons...it'll really help to have a strong base to work off of. From there, you can develope your own style.
