I've been hearing about this card for months now, but where are the reviews? Any word on when we'll know how well this card performs?

It falls in line with the new ATI naming sceme, ie, faster than a 9500pro, but not as fast as a 9700.
As far as i can tell, its just a higher clocked 9500pro built on the 0.13 process. And can be passivly cooled. It still has the 128bit memory bus though.

I just read today taht it got delayed... *sigh*

I've also heard that it will only have 4 rendering pipelines or whatever, half what the 9500 pro has. I get the feeling the 9500 Pro will perform better.

Well, a delay of a few months is well worth it with what is essentially ATI's hammering out of their 130 nanometer process.

I felt the same about nVidia's delay of the GeForce FX: I'd rather they get the process right so the failure rate isn't high than have them release something buggy as hell. I may have to wait, but I am patient.

Getting the 9600 Pro right is definitely important to ATI, as I believe that is going to probably be the card that everyone will look back on as making/breaking them from the updated R300 line. If the R9600Pro can outperform the FX5600Ultra, then that's a win for ATI with the whole line, IMHO.
