a small little shelf that can sit on top of your current one.
Or the wall mount idea is fine too but would require running the wires through the wall for a clean look. Or you could cover them which takes a bit less effort.

any picture examples of a riser done nicely?
that's the other problem with wall mounting.
drilling the holes for the mount is not bad, but then running the wires behind the wall is an issue. or if i don't run it behind the wall, then i have to use some sort of a conduit which doesn't look great either.

i was thinking that... 1 nail, nice and easy, angle it downwards to fire it at ear level.
