Yeah, it's pretty bad don't you think? it's so out of the blue and stands out in a bad way.

+1 for mounting it on the wall
It should cost you less then $75
just mount it right running wires through the wall and that should do it

a small little shelf that can sit on top of your current one.

Or the wall mount idea is fine too but would require running the wires through the wall for a clean look. Or you could cover them which takes a bit less effort.

any picture examples of a riser done nicely?

that's the other problem with wall mounting.
drilling the holes for the mount is not bad, but then running the wires behind the wall is an issue. or if i don't run it behind the wall, then i have to use some sort of a conduit which doesn't look great either.

what about mounting the center spkr on the wall, right above the tv? i think it would be less obvious up there.

I guess I'm not as picky.

I've seen much worse.

i was thinking that... 1 nail, nice and easy, angle it downwards to fire it at ear level.
think i'll need to hit a stud?

yes. if you are lucky you will, but don't count on it.

does the center spkr have a single mounting hole on it? it looks rather heavy for a single.
either way, if you can't luck out and hit a stud, you'll want to use an easy anchor at the least, or better yet a wall anchor.

Why are your speakers an eye sore at all?

Get newer cooler looking speakers?

Hide the speakers in the wall?

I think it looks fine like it is. If you set the TV on a small shelf on the HT stand, with the speaker under it, you will still see it, but it would be more recessed.

If at all possible, separate your two front speakers further. Having it all so close together makes it practically worthless.

Secondly, though not ideal, how about using your tv speakers as the center channel?

Buy a low profile center. They are out there but you will definately suffer in quality sound. I am proud to display my center speaker. :)
