where the fark is the show desktop button?

right click on taskbar, hit properties, choose "show quicklaunch"

For Win98SE, the properties on mine says C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Show Desktop.scf. If you accidentally deleted it, you should be able to find that file and copy it to your task bar.

Actually it is not because you would then need windows key + shift + m to get your programs back. Windows key + d is the bestest of all. It minimizes all and maximizes all.

holy sh!t, I've been on XP for 6 months, and I didn't know where that thing was. I thought they just left it out. Wow. And I'm going for my A+ certification???!?

Don't fret FSU, The A+ Cert is more geared for your Hardware knowledge and general knowledge of software including the OS. XP is clearly more of a (MS) Marketing System tool than useful OS (Operating System)unfortunately.
