Ryan Smith said:However because AMD isn’t producing any retail reference cards they have also opted to not pre-sample the press ahead of time for reviews. And while we’ll be looking at partner cards over the coming weeks, for today’s launch we do not have any cards or benchmarks in hand, and for the immediate future our focus is going to be on Fury.
Anand writers have said in the past that there isnt enough money to be made by buying products to review. So unless they get free samples, they dont do reviews.

Bingo. We'll have a 390X review in a couple of weeks.http://www.anandtech.com/show/9387/amd-radeon-300-series/2
No reference card = no review sample from AMD. I'm guessing he will review a custom board in a few weeks either with or after the Fury X review.
Understood, but Anandtech did not do a GTX960 review even though its the most popular new gen Nvidia card.Bingo. We'll have a 390X review in a couple of weeks.
Even if I had a sample on launch day, there wouldn't have been enough time with Fury also going on.

GTX 960 will be up eventually. Lots to do, little time to do it in.Understood, but Anandtech did not do a GTX960 review even though its the most popular new gen Nvidia card.
I've heard retail samples throttle. :ninja:
That should get every site on the web to go out and buy one.
you have?
Your sarcasm meter must be malfunctioning.
Remember the 290 retail cards throttling issue? Well, it seemed like every site were buying retail samples to test it. Some even multiple cards.

Meh. Its not an interesting card. Imo the good about AT reviews is not the benchmarking but the very solid explanation of the tech used.As a reader since early 2000...I'm still disappointed AT didn't put up a review (refresh or not).
Agree thats perhaps a solution. But the basic problem for a site is beeing number one / or on time with the news and not 7 days late. You lose business. That is the wrong way of looking at things.
This site's owners can afford to buy their own samples, instead of waiting for freebies. I am sure they can work out sponsored deals with newegg, or whomever else.
That means, the site should be buying said card for the reviewer in question.
That would also remove the temptation to write "soft" reviews because they are afraid of not getting freebies the next time.
making sure. I was about to report you. never can be too careful these days. I always report suspicious behavior to the authorities
That's a shame. What the heck happen to this website? I mean, c'mon. There are literally a hand full of GPU launches a year. Make time for it. This site is going down the drain. Being busy isn't an excuse, either. Sites like these would have to know the release schedule of these video cards.
Technical hardware sites like these should have all major releases covered and reviewed on launch day. This is one of the biggest tech sites in the world. There is no excuse. Such a shame.
