Hey all, 1 more year of highschool and we are out of here.. Pitts Pa, my parents want to move somewhere... but we are still bickering between ourselves about it..

My sister wants florida for the beaches... we all like the beaches but are not moving just for that,

Tampa?

Carolinas... very nice... possibly NC

and WEST... thats where i would like to head, the west is booming, and it is beatiful...

Most likely Coloarado or arizona..

Can anyone recommend some nice places... give a few reasons, and where you would recommend..

Looking for good job opp. and i need a nice Tech school 😛

😛

How about the Beautiful State of Alaska. I love it here!

The job market is often misrepresented by the Outside because too many people equate Alaska with the remote villiages in the Interior. But the Anchorage vicinity isn't so bad. There are good tech schools but they face the problem of most of their graduates going to the lower 48 for higher paying jobs and need more graduates who are willing to accept the trade-off of slightly less pay for the benifits of Alaska living.

California, the greatest state in our great nation 🙂

Seriously though, I've driven all over the united states, and I'll tell you that the west is far more interesting than the east. of course, the plains states are the worst.

I've bee to Florida. Let me tell you right now that Florida sucks. It's too hot. There's too many bugs. Everything is stained yellow. It rains to much. The state is ugly as hell (have you seen the kinds of trees that grow there?). The people are all old or dumb except during spring break. Oh god, florida is horrible. If you want beaches, move to San Diego.

Colorado can be nice. Western Colorado is a lot like Utah, it's pretty, but there's not much civilization. Eastern Colorado is liek the plains states, it's flat and boring. But, the rockies, down to Denver and Boulder is nice.
I haven't spent a lot of time in Arizona, but the north rim of the Grand Canyon is quite nice 🙂

After all the places I've been though, California is still my favorite.

My favorite states:
California
Utah
Virginia
New York
Colorado

My least favorite states:
Florida
Kansas
New Jersey

<< If I had my druthers Marin County would be high on the list 😎 >>

Up for the expensive places eh? 🙂

California rocks, but NorCal is the best! Check out the wine counties - Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino. Better priced than Marin for sure, yet within driving range of it. And yes, the UC system is great.

Just don't move to Davis, CA. :disgust:

oh, davis isn't THAT bad. Tell him not to move to Fresno, or Barstow.

notfred thanks for the reply, along with a others,

Florida, i do like it , and have been there serveral times, but not the place for me...

Calif, eh..? i dunno...

How is Denver doing?

I want west.. i have been on the east all my life... not that long (16 hehe) 17 on the 12th... 😛

Arizona.. my unlce is a cop and he really likes it, he is in Southern part...

What about Nevada? Utah? or are these kinda out of the City, because i want the city, not like NYC, but city urban type! 🙂

I had more bugs in SD and in NY than I ever see in Fl. I went swimming outside yesterday. Did you? I saw people in bikinis yesterday, did you? I am making over 2x the best salary in my family right now, in Fl. Do you make 2x what your dad ever did? Bad economy??? If you work in the health care field, they are banging on your door night and day to get you to come to work for more pay at the hospital across the street.

And I have a dozen golf courses less than 15 minutes from my house.

Wait...what am I saying?????

You are so right. Florida is horrible. You here me, everyone???? Stay the f ccuk away from my state!

You want a job here? 5 bucks an hour and all the sunshine you can eat. The beaches suck. The biatches suck. Everything sucks here.

Go away, and stay away.

SD Beaches????? Where? If you want to surf, there may be some ok places. If you want to swim it is ok...
NOCal is aweful. Cold and rainy a lot of the time. It is like Seatlle without all the cool people and relatively low rental rates.

If I were to move out of state (which I will never do because I like places that suck), I would probably go to a small town in North Dakota or something, where people still talk to one another and appreciate the one or two days out of the year when the weather is good.

Florida rocks (but I'm biased). If the bugs really bother you, I suggest going to St. Petersburg. Some evenings we have 0, I repeat, zero bugs flying around. I'm guessing it has something to do with the sandier areas w/ fewer trees/fields/ponds and puddles. I wouldn't recommend it for job opportunities unless you're into health care.

It sounds like you're looking for the more scenic wooded (yet populated) areas. If thats the case, Tampa/st. pete is not for you. I hear that Colorado's tech sector is growing pretty fast though.

Anyhoo, good luck. Don't move based on what we say. Do some extra research and make sure to weigh it in as well.

LOL, i like Florida, just don't know if its the place to move, i was down there about 4-5 times.. December, April 2x, July, AUgust...

Oh god August was hell... so hot, my grandparents love it, they live in a small place outside of Tampa, called Bradenton... they have a "village" called Colony Cove, which IMHO is awesome, everything is taken care of for them, and they are only in ther early 60's ... They live right on a lake which i may add.. brought me a few of my biggest gamefish ever... i got several 5 pounders out of there.. and even a 10 pounder in August... one of only a few which i caught on that trip...

all in all florida is a great place... just wouldnt want to live there for some reason, want something different i guess.. 🙂

Tallest, i ( well my parents) want a combo of the 2... not all scenic, but like you said....

Tampa may be for us, and we just don't know..😕

southern cal is great; denver/boulder area is great; st. pete/tampa area is great; i like vegas but it's not for everybody, the reno area might be a better choice for nevada; phoenix is okay but stay away from scottsdale.

i can tell you this. Most people i know that have grown up on the east coast, CANNOT STAND THE WEST COAST. I dunno, they just don't get it. They would rather pay 2 million for a tiny ass studio apartment in NY, whereas in CA you can get a mansion for that kinda money. It's two different worlds colliding.

I highly recommend NORTHERN California (I live in Southern California).😉

😀

Hawaii is pretty nice if you like the beach (but the economy is bad).

OMFG... In surfer magazine, of the ten best surfing cities in America 4 were in Cali. If you have no clue about what you're talking about, then stop talking. Its F*ing nice here.

Under any circumstances, DO NOT move to Florida, I am getting out of this hellhole in a couple years, this place sucks. I live in Palm Bay, Florida which is by Cape Canaveral and there is nothing to do here! My friends and I just drive around thinking of what to do. If you are going to move down here go to Miami or Orlando, at least you have a lot of stuff there.

I'm a SoCal person. I live 5 minutes from 1 mall, 6 minutes from another, 2 minutes from Junior High School, 15 minutes from High School, and 4 minutes from Elementary school, yet I live up a big hill, down a big driveway (only me 🙂) so it's like country. Plus, I can see the ocean, so about 10 minutes from beach 😀 It's great!

*no knowledge of the individual states of the US*

Isn't Calif - Expensive, weird taxes, power probs, harsh/strict law?

It looks nice and all...

I'm just curious
