where should I place my first blowhole?

Even Lanboy cases will have a hot spot on top of the case as the hot air rises from components. The PSU also has a side exhaust that continually blows out hot air to the top. This raises your case temps and in short, raises the temps of components your trying to keep cool, so the first logical place is one on top. A 80mm will do wonders. I have mine plugged into the Antec PSU, so it spins only as fast as needed

That's pretty cool. Did you see any improvement from putting the hole on top of the case? and did you have to remove the motherboard along with all the other components when making the cut? It seems that the Lanboy is riveted in, so you can not take that side of the case off.

No. Just be careful, and remember to look underneath when planning your hole, so you don't try to cut into your PSU or CDROM. Sounds simple enough, but worth mentioning just in case you happen to get stoned beforehand or something 🙂

Yes, take out EVERYTHING of a the case. When you cut metal, small pieces of metal go EVERYWHERE and get on everything. If even one flake makes contact between two metal electrical points, or RAM, CPU....ZAPPP!!! bye bye component. Adding the blowhole keeps the temp on top within 2c of the bottom temp almost all the time, I can feel the heat during heavy gaming sessions being blow out, heat that would otherwise just be building up.

I guess technically it's possible that could happen, so I guess it's probably a good idea to empty the case, or at least cover the mobo and blow it out when you're done. Guess I've always been lucky..
