I'm a high school student who can work weekends during the day. Where should I look for a job?

I'm in the same situation - I just dropped off an application form at the local video place. The hours suit me and so does the work :)

I also applied at an upmarket burger place, but working with food is definitely not my first choice.

I worked in a restaurant all this summer and into the fall (around 6 months experience) as a pantry chef/short-order line cook. I want pretty good pay for the hours I specified.. Like over 7.50/hour, preferably. Where to look?

Fast food or stocking.

Those are pretty limited times that you can work.
stocking?

Putting boxes up, moving things around, general grunt work.

$7.50/hr? Where do you live?

No. Maine.

taxidermy.
i imagine a moose is a ton of work, but just think of the profits.

Umm I only know of ONE taxidermist around here. Just because it's Maine doesn't mean we dont have the usual things anyone else does....

Well, I've never been to Maine, but most people I know started out making $5-$6/hr in crappy menial jobs. I'm not saying you can't get a really nice job, but I wouldn't set my heart on making too much.
