Where should I go to college?

I got accepted to PSU and Cal Poly. I should hear from Berkeley any day now. Assuming I get into Berkeley, where should I go? I'll be a CompSci major.

Where do you want to spend the next 4 years?

Do you want to go all the way across the country to CA and experience all that has to offer, or do you want to stay in PA a little closer to home and break out on your own more gradually?

Which campus do you think has the atmosphere you'd most like to be a part of?

Where do you think you'd make the most of your time?

If my vote means anything, I'd choose CalPoly.

Also, as montanafan mentioned, I think the biggest part is how far from home you want to be. I don't think it is worth traveling the entire country to go to a cal state though...

College is over-rated. Abandon ship and work at the local supermarket or something. =)

And if you're thinking of going to Cal for CS, it's a whole different world there compared to PSU or Cal Poly. Going to Cal, you'll be up against the cream of the crop.

Your right and when you graduate you can work for any Silicon Valley company that you want.

Cal Poly has some awesome engineering programs. I think SLO is known more for its agricultural and architectural programs, though.

Dunno about PSU.

For the record, I got into Cal Poly SLO.
I applied to Cal as LSCS. When I visited, the admissions counselor told me it was LSCS for software and EECS for hardware. That sort of seemed like an oversimplification, but he insisted it was that cut and dry. I want to get into software, and LSCS is much easier to get into, so I just applied to L&S.

Well, I'm off to check Berkeley online (how long have i been able to do this, and why wasn't i informed?).

If you can, visit each school. Take a tour, meet with the dept of you major. See how you feel about it; go with your gut feelings.
