Long story short, where is the best place to exchange foreign currency?

I recently went to Taiwan and have about 23800 TWD.

$1 USD = 31.32 TWD - on xe.com today.

However Bank of America quoted me $1 USB = 29.00 TWD

I asked for where to get it cheaper and they told me to go to the airport.

I thought airport was even worse? Where do you guys exchange your foreign Currency?

Am I missing something here?

(23800/29.00) > (23800 / 31.32)

Seems to me you are getting more from BoA...

EDIT - Also, keep in mind that banks have a buy rate and a sell rate for currency, either way, its profit for them.

That sounds like a great conversion for me in BoA.
Unless they charge outrageous fee.

Know any bank employees?

They receive marginally better FX rates than your average peener flap does.

When I was in Geneva a few years ago there was a place that offered fantastic exchange rates. Of course, this isn't a sensible option unless your San Jose location is all a ruse. I suppose this is possible, seeing that RossMAN apparently lives in Quebec :D
