Where or how do you most cost effectively dispose of a washing machine?

We replaced a Maytag front loader for which there was a class action suit pending so I wasn't sure how it would end and it might have been with them repairing it.

In any case, I now need to get rid of it. It works, but has intermittent problems. Anyway to donate this or something or can it be recycled? I hate the idea of needing to pay to get this thing out of my life and garage.

Maybe donate it to the salvation army? My parents donated a bunk bed (disassembled prior to pick up) and they came with a truck and hauled it out for free.

The Goodwill/salvation army if it is in working order.

Otherwise contact a local trade school. They love to practice fixing such items.

More info. on the lawsuit please.

Just curious, that's all.

The early generation Neptune front loaders had a range of problems from the wax motors, uh, melting, to the control panel failing to mold growing on the inside of the door.

We had them come out twice to fix it, on our dime, and it was still broke, so when the chance came to recoup that money (class action notice), we figured, wtf. Ended up getting a whole $16 + a $100 merchandise certificate.....whatever. The only people who win with these class actions are the lawyers, but it was more than I was gonna get shouting at CSR managers so, meh.
