I understand the industry is moving away (has moved)from ISA, however, there are still many proprietary cards as well as older A/D etc, that require ISA. After going through HP, Dell, NEC, and Acer computers looking for ISA availability and compatabilty, I have yet to find a computer that works. We continue to get issues such as when the ISA card is installed, a COM port (2 required) dissapears. It's as if the system no longer has sufficient resources for both ISA and serial.
Is there manufacturers still addressing ISA requirements? Are any able to claim UL, or better yet, CE approval on their products?
Will industries with proprietary cards be forced into the "industrial computer" category?
Even then, can they provide continuing support.

Just let it go guy... just let go. If we can't even accept a minor change such as the ISA bus how the heck will we ever change the x86. It's all in the name of progress.

i think some companies sell external boxes that plug into PCI slots (with a cable) with isa slots in them. Kinda hard to find look in back of pcmag or something.

My company just ran into the same problem. Some of our instruments interface with the PC through ISA controller cards. We usually were able to get systems from Dell, but I went to order a couple last week and voila!, no ISA.

Now I get to build the systems myself. :)
