Where LOTR was shot...

Dunno if this is of any interest to anyone but....


I Didn't realise it but yesterday I was walking down by the river where Liv Tyler's character (Arwen?) rescued Frodo when the black riders were after her, it's by a town called Arrowtown. Also, on Saturday last I walked through the woods where Boromir was killed and the Uruk hai went nuts, near a place called 'Paradise'.
And finally, in TTT preview there's a scene with someone up on battlements in a citadel or something, the mountains behind that person are outside my back door!

How do I know all this? Cause a friend worked as the 'water supervisor' on set. Weird how I only found that out now.

You of course realize that Kami is going to kill himself knowing that he could have had you scoping the set out for inside info while the movie was being shot. Hope you're happy.

If it was outside your backdoor, how come you did not realise that during the shooting? Must have had a lot of people milling around right? 😛

Well I only moved into the area in January of this year so the filming was all complete. I'm surprised the fans sites don't mention these places specifically, I checked and all they say is: "This was shot in Otago". Otago is a region of south island NZ, kind of like saying these shots were filmed in Texas!
