WHERE IS XABRE???

Good question, I've even checked pricewatch and nothing has poped up... By the time these cards come to market, it'll be to late. The funny thing is that I read an article at the Xbitlabs.com as to how SIS is going to start sampling the Xabre II next Febuary.

From the reviews I've read it seems to be a decent card that needs some improvement in its drivers. How much did you plan to pay for this card? As of now you can get the Geforce 4mx 440 for about $80 (although it lacks the directx 8.1 support) and it performs similiarly to the Xabre. Better yet would be the ATi 8500LE for $95 at newegg...

hehe, here is Australia the Xabre is about the same price as a MX440... performance of the Xabre is slightly better in some cases, but the drivers are still pretty raw. I'm sure you could get the MX440 much cheaper in the US

😀 Xabre should shine for cheap and effective mobo onboard designs. It whips the GF2MX100/200 that nVidia stick in their nForce mobos that's for sure. The reviews of the Xabre 400 (rem the 200 and 80 versions are also in production) suggest that it beats the GF4MX440 in almost every benchmark AND offers DX8 enhanced functions too. If the price was right it would make a much better alternative to GF4MX cards although the GF3TI200 and Radeon8500LE would still be worth the extra bit of cash. For the same price the Radeon8500LE is the smarter buy with better image quality and VIVO, but outside the US & Canada ATI really rip people off and the GF3TI200 is the better option. I think the GF4TI4200 is the best buy at the moment but you really want a decent CPU, 1ghz minimum and you are still talking about 140 notes or so.

Didn't you read the information contained in the review I mentioned above? Yes the Xabre400 can perform better than a GF4 MX440 but right now the only way it can is with poor image quality.
 
They don't seem to think that image quality is a issue here, however, I agree that SiS still have alot of work to do on the drivers. I think that when the drivers are sorted out, the card will be great in the budget sector. In terms of "features for money" the Xabre beats the MX440. Considering the price of the Xabre in Australia is $209, and comes with TV-out and DVI ports, I consider it great value for money.

At the moment though, I have absolutly no intention of getting a Xabre or any other video card for that matter. I am perfectly happy with my PowerColour KyroII, which I bought for the price of a MX200.
