Windows 7 is the best version of Windows I've ever used, but where is the Run function on it?

Keyboard shortcut.

WinKey + R

In addition, the run command line can be found just by typing "run" into the search box in the Start menu. The way I see it, it essentially IS the same thing as the run command line. It also supports wildcards & environment variables.

Depending on what I'm doing on the computer, I still prefer using WinKey + R because I am a keyboard shortcut fanatic.

Actually by default, I don't think run is visible, to have it show up you have to right click on the task bar and click properties, go to the start menu tab and customize button and put a check mark beside the run command

or as others said winkey + r

I just type it in Search Programs and Files box on the start menu now. Never had an issue

All of the above suggestions are good. This is from the Win 7 HELP section:

"The Run command no longer appears on the Start menu in this version of Windows. The search box that appears on the Start menu provides much of the same functionality as the Run command. However, the Run command is still available if you prefer to use it. You can even add it to the Start menu for easier access.

"To add the Run command to the Start menu:

"Click to open Taskbar and Start Menu Properties.

"Click the Start Menu tab, and then click Customize.

"In the list of Start menu options, select the Run command check box, and then click OK. The Run command will be displayed on the right side of the Start menu."

Another tip, Not run from start menu, but if in windows explorer, hold down shift and right click and you get the option to open command window here.
