Where is the mode switch inside a Sanyo VCR?

Hi there,

My Sanyo 9750 VCR is acting up. While attempting to load or eject a tape, the unit turns itself off. It can be turned back on and the tape will move, start to load or eject and turn off again.

Apparntly, I need to clean the mode switch (saw posts with similar woes on the net, although not for my particular model)

So where is the mode switch? I have the VCR open in front of me, but can't figure out where that device is or how does it look like.

I doubt that's causing the trouble. The mode switch merely selects whether to record in SP or SLP, right? That could be done from the on-screen menu as well as a physical switch on the front. Might be under a flip down panel, too.

Does it do this whether it's hot or cold? Sounds like a safety switch shutting it down due to over temp or something.

Try completely unplugging it from the wall for about five minutes. That could let it reset itself. Does the power switch seem to be working right? Does the tape start to load and play, even if you don't touch the power switch first? In other words, load the tape while the power switch is off. Can it do that?

Edit Just thought of something. Is it in the timer record mode? Are you putting a tape in there with the tab removed? That could have the same symptoms.
