Where is the iPhone 6S review?

I'm surprised it's taken Anandtech this long to get a review out. I know Anandtech reviews go much more in depth and has substantially higher quality than anywhere else but holy cow, this is probably the biggest review each year. It's been over 3 weeks since the phone launched. By the time the review comes out, most viewers don't really care anymore.

Why not get the whole team on it and crank it out? I've seen two other devices reviewed before the iPhone 6s here.

Disclaimer: I already own a 6S but I want to see how it compares to the 6 and other top Android phones and the only source I trust is Anandtech.

Out of curiosity, since you already have it why do you care how it stacks up to other devices? Bragging rights?

Those other reviews that came out between 6s launch and now were almost surely reviews that started long before they got their hands on a 6s.

The reason for the delay I think is a combination of two things.

1. Josh is juggling multiple device reviews at the moment.

2. They have found some interesting things about the 6s that haven't been mentioned in detail, or at all in other reviews, and decided to take time to fully develop their analysis instead of rushing stuff out the door like other sites.

This, is primarily why so many educated people trust Anandtech above other sources. Other sites race with each other trying to be first to publish. Anandtech does not involve themselves in that race. They try to be the best period, and routinely are.

Like most people here, I'm a technical geek and like to look at benchmarks and read in-depth reviews.

The AT reviews are worth the wait honestly even if they're not the most timely. I hope they have an in-depth look at the A9 as the AT articles on chip architectures are always fascinating reads.

For the level of testing that AT does, they'd almost need 3 - 5 preview devices just to be able to get everything out on time. Any battery benchmarks are going to take an entire day to run and if you're doing three different benchmarks that all take around ten hours, that's a few days you can't do anything else with your test device.

Agreed!! Top notch stuff. Can't wait to learn more about the A9.

Seriously, it's cool that anandtech's editors can live under "whenever" editorial deadlines, but a month after a major tech launch and we're still waiting? I bet the iPHone 7 will be out. I get it, it's really nice that this site's owners doesn't seem to care if reviews are timely or not and doesn't care that they lost the massive ad/hit potential of a timely review, but it doesn't make me confident that the site will be in it for the long haul with such indifferent standards. Again, I"m happy for you all that your boss doesn't seem to care much about deadlines (isn't "deadlines, deadlines, deadlines!" a journalistic mantra? new is only relevant when it's timely), but it doesn't help people make buying decisions and instead becomes just fluff. Burn the midnight oil and get a review out, it's what EVERY other tech site can do. There's "very thorough takes time" and there's 1 month after a product is out...

If this site is a hobby then just label it a hobby

In terms of long haul, it has been like that for a quite a while. I've been reading AT for well over a decade, and I honestly can't remember if they were always this slow, but I do remember people complaining about them being slow for years and years.

I do agree it is super frustrating if you are wanting to buy something just released and waiting for the AT review, but when this isn't the case their mobile reviews are literally the standard, imho.

Storage reviews are also quite good, CPU reviews are just ok, AT has never been one to focus on OCing, but the architecture deep-dives are great as well.

There are plenty of other tech sites that have reviewed the iPhone 6s, give those a shot if you're so desperate.

It's pretty crazy how long this is taking.

The iPhone 6 was released on Sept 19, (2014) and they had a review up on Sept 30th. That's 11 days and perfectly reasonable for such an in depth review.

The iPhone 6s was released Sept 25th, here we are 30 days later and still no review? This is ridiculous. I mean I understand that they are probably doing extra work testing the ridiculously fast NAND that puts everything else to shame, but still...
