where is the internet?

The internet is neither here, nor there. Once you think you've grasped it, it disappears. There internet is in all of us, but in none of us. It is out there, but also in here. If you think you know where the internet is, you don't. The internet is beyond comprehension.

Yea but where's the internetting LAN?

That is still correct to a point.

The three largest internet exchange points (places for networks to peer and share routing/reachability information) from the early 90s are still the biggest ones out there (MAE east, west and central) and move the lion's share of data.

It would be nice however to have a good thread on this in highly technical.

Think of the internet as a phone system with computers calling each other. Because that's all it really is.

Guys don't fvck with me! I'll turn it off!!!

It runs on laptop under my desk. I use it as a foot rest.
