I paid for one of these title checks and the car I bought came up clean. Then when I tried to get he font end aligned they discoverd that it had been in a front-end collision. These vehicle history check do little to help you IMHO.

not sure why some show up and some don't. I had 2 accidents. Both went through my insurance, but only one shows up on my carfax report. It's as if the 2nd accident never happened. Can't completely trust it, but at least you can see the history of your car and potential problems like your rollback.

Connect a wire to each terminal and touch the other end on your tongue. If you feel a slight tingle, then it's working just great.

This method works well for testing the voltage in HT leads, also.

I like going to dealers that pay for CarFax or have lemon guarantees on their lots. That'll save you a lot of grief and worry.

Have the seller pay for it!

If he wants to move the car, he should be willing to spend a little to show its in good shape.
