Find a friend that works at Apple. They usually get 20-25% off ANY hardware.

Otherwise, find a college bookstore. They usually give discounts to students.

Directly from Apple is as cheap as anywhere else.

Make sure to buy the stock ammount of RAM though. Like most computer makers, Apple charges an arm and a leg for extra RAM!

2) Outpost.com (order through eBates.com) receive free shipping and usually free RAM
3) Student discount through a college can get you a pretty nice deal

Bear in mind the iBook and iMac still have a long ways to go especially with the graphics cards which SUCK! If you don't need or aren't going to use the portability of a laptop the best bang for your buck or the sweet spot is the next to the top of the line iMac:

Internet Access All models also include 30 days of free Internet service through EarthLink. Internet access requires an Internet service account.

Or buy an older iMac on close out (www.outpost.com) when Apple slashes their prices which may have already happened or will happen. The new iBook is spiffy but S-L-O-W, if you don't need the portability of the iBook then definitely get the iMac.

Whatever you do don't get "flower power" or something repulsive like that.
