I am getting ready to build a new system this summer and the big question is what kind of storage should I use? Right not the answer is 2 or 4 ATA133 drives striped RAID 0. However, the features of Serial ATA look much better.
I have seen many rave reviews talking about the serial ATA technology. I have even seen roadmaps from reviews that were done in 2000 that said look for products in the next couple months. At IDF this year we heard that serial ATA will roll out in OEM PCs by the end of this year. Adaptec even had a 4 port serial ATA raid controller.
When will we start seeing this technology actually come to market instead of just being vaporware? Are the big companies involved squashing the technology so Dell can release it in their computers first? Does anyone have a real timeline?
