Where is my RAM going?

I just built a new rig and am seeing some wierd stuff. My total commit charge(RAM in use) will be about 229MB, but my available will be about 80MB or sometimes less and I have 512MB or RAM. Wierd thing is when I view the processes in task manager if I add up the memory usage of all them for all users it totals to significantly less then my commit charge (memory in use)

I'm an IT professional by trade and am pretty keen on computers, but I don't understand why I'm seeing this. What is using my memory up?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Oh and my system specs are

P4 2.4c @3.12ghz
2x256 HyperX PC3500
Abit IS7-E

Thanks

For future reference, not all running processes are shown under Task Manager's Processes tab.

523,756 Total, 12,000, available, sytem cache 352,000 <--high system cache?

Commit charge = 326,544

Also, how can I see the hidden processes?

Wow, only 12 megs free? Something is definitely amiss...

Just a shot in the dark, have you tried a memory scrubber/ or anything of that type to see... ( granted i know 2k/xp can manage memory...)

Edit: System Cache is 466,000 over here.

I know some third-party task managers will reveal them, like TaskManagerCS. Can't find the utility I was using before...
