Where I can get Windows 8 oem?

Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio Pro 13 Ultrabook which came with Windows 8 pre-installed and which I have wiped out the first day 😀
I haven't created any restore media, I just kept the windows serial number..

Now I'm selling it and I would like to reinstall Windows with his original serial but I don't have any media.

Is there a legal way to get a windows 8 (non pro) oem iso, install it and activate my license? 😳

The only way to do it with an OEM key is to borrow the install media from a friend or "find it" online. Apparently, Microsoft didn't appreciate that people found the links on Microsoft's CDN for Windows 7, and now, it's a lot harder to get access to Windows 8. Keep in mind that as long as you modify a single file within the install media, you can install any version of Windows 8 (also works with Windows 7), but you still need an appropriate key to register it. That's helpful if you have a friend with Professional but you need the vanilla copy.

Personally, I ripped my Windows 8.1 OEM disc and put it on a thumb drive with no version specified.

EDIT:

contact sony tech support. they should be able to get you a key or media sent (prolly will cost though).

Good luck!

That'll work if he wants it back to the original configuration. I wasn't sure if he wanted that or just basic Windows 8. I always do my installs from the ground up, but I guess if he's selling it, then he wants to get it back to factory settings.

Maybe this can Help.

"Upgrade Windows with only a product key

If you bought Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, you can download and install Windows from this page using just your product key. You'll have the option to install Windows now, later, or using media with an ISO file.
Before you begin:

Make sure you’re on the PC you want to upgrade. If you're updating to Windows 8.1, this PC must be running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 Preview. If you already have the latest version of Windows 8 installed on your PC, you can update to Windows 8.1 in the Windows Store for free".

With 8 that is no longer the case.
If you purchase it and you install it, you can reinstall on whatever hardware you want. New motherboard, new PC, whatever.
If it is preinstalled, then it is tied to that original motherboard.

Best you can do is get the md5 hash of correct iso handy, and then look for the file on the (dark corners) internets. Once you download it, verify.

I'm unsure if this will work with an OEM key, but it might be worth trying.

There's a reason I just use DVD copies, and can use keys out of my MSDN account...

There is a hidden partition with a restore media, search google how to boot to it. Hope you didn't wipe that too.
