Evening chaps...

I'm coming over to the states later this year and I'd love to go see to a football game or baseball game while I'm in San Francisco, LA or NYC. Where's the best place to buy tickets online? Is there an an official ticket broker?

Cheers!

baseball teams each have websites that you can order from. I don't know if they do international shipping. www.dodgers.com will do the trick, but it's too early to buy regular season tickets since the season doesn't start until April.

I tried the 49ers web site but it didn't have a buy tickets link....I'll try Ticketmaster now.

Cheers guys :)

you won't be able to buy football tickets for a while, I don't think they even have a schedule yet.

Tickets availablity also depends on who is playing. If your in NYC, while the Red Sox are playing, its going to considerably more difficult to
get tickets than if the Tigers were playing. For the most part though, like everyone else has said, most team websites allow for the purchase of tickets.

I'd advice going to www.mlb.com. From there you can find the team websites, and each one has information about how to get tickets.

Edit: At this time Dodgers and Giants regular season tickets are not for sale online, however I believe that NY Yankees tickets are.

It would help to know which month you were travelling....
If you want a baseball game of the 3 cities mentioned go to a Yankees(NYC) game or a Giants(SF) game

Oops sorry :) Well the travel plans are pretty busy...

We are in California between 12th July and 22nd July (we have a car to travel round) and we are in NYC between 27th July and 1st August.

Football is over. Ticketmaster gives you Crappy upper level seats, and charges "convience fee's". When the time comes, search on ebay.

You won't be able to see any football during that time, but you'll be able to catch a baseball game. I'd suggest putting Fishermen's Wharf and Pier 39 on your list for your visit in SF :)

Personally, unless you like tacky tourist stuff, I'd suggest crossing the Wharf and Pier 39 off your list.

A baseball game is fine with me (though I understand American football rules more) :)

Forgive my ignorance but where is the best place to stand/sit in a baseball stadium?

I like the bleachers myself (I'm cheap I suppose) but you are a long way from everything and often it is bench seating (Don't know about Yankee stadium - it is in SF anyway).
If you're only doing it once get tickets as low down as you can near either 1st or 3rd base.

Don't worry about the rules - I moved from the UK 4 years ago and know much more about baseball than most of my American friends. Its really just a version of rounders ;) - although there are a lot of subtleties to the game that take a while to appreciate.

Yankees vs. Orioles series should be fun - Baltimore have picked up a couple of good players in the off season.

you should definitely go see the Giants to see Barry Bonds but i would also suggest checking out an Oakland A's game as well. oakland is right across the SF bay and tickets are cheaper. you can get field level seats for less than $30. most of the people i know say the atmosphere at an A's game is better than Giants game. hope you have fun. california is a great place to visit. i've lived in the san francisco bay area my whole life.

I agree A's games are fun and if the Giants are out of town the A's are probably playing.
I took a friend from the UK to his first ever baseball game there last season which he really enjoyed.
(I suppose it did help that it was Game 1 of the Divisional Series against the Red Sox which the A's won with a bases loaded bunt in the bottom of the 12th - that was probably the best baseball game I have ever seen)
