Where does this hole come from?

Look at the length of the dark green triangle (top on the first, tip on the second). The number of boxes along the bottom changes.
 
Oh yeah, repost. I saw this here last year, because I remember bringing this into my Math teacher, and stumping him. Man, I am on a role with the reposts today. I need to calm down.

No, they have the same number.
 
Just figured it out.

Slope for small triangle is 2/5 = 16/40.

Slope for large triangle is 3/8 = 15/40.

Slopes are not equal.

Hypotenese is not straight.
