Where does Infinity rank in the car-audio world?

Their speakers, more specifically.

Looking to replace the stock GM speakers in my Bravada. I've seen their Kappa series going for around 150-200 for a pair of 6 1/2s.

Do you have a brand/line to check out rather than Infinity? I'm not necessarily attached to this brand, I know little about car audio but I have heard people say that Infinity is a quality brand...however i don't know how much these people know.

In my Bravada, I can fit 4x6s in the dash and depending on which site I go to, either 6 1/2s or 7's in the doors. (sounddomain says 7, crutchfield says 6 1/2.)

Any suggestions on what to get, for any of the speakers? (total budget for speakers I would say is 500 or so. Not concerned with headunit, amp or sub at this point, just the speakers)

Personally, I've heard 2 aftermarket car stereos with Infinity speakers, and I thought both really sucked ass. I hated them and they hurt my ears - that bad. No midrange at all, and the tweeters were harsh.

I've been checking out Dynaudio speakers for a while, but they're pretty expensive at about $400/pair. Adire Audio also has car speakers, and they make good drivers for subs, so I'd think the quality of their car speakers are decent too. I think they run about $300/pair. If you want to go cheaper I'd say just go into a store and listen. What sounds bad to me might sound good to you *shrug*

infinity references aren't that great...about as good as pioneer counterparts usually....kappas however I think are awesome...i got my car outfitted all around with them (front, rear, subs) and i personally think they sound pretty nice and most people who ride with me do as well...

I bought top of the line Kappas about 2 years ago. They take a very long time to break in and sound right. IMO, they sound superb. Also using a single Infinity sub which I also like.

My friend swears by MB Quartz.
I've been looking at 6.5's for myself and was leaning towards Infinity Kappa 62.5i's, but after reading this I"m not too sure now...

bad installer = bad speakers
good installed = good speakers
too true too true....i hear way to many complaints from guys that wonder why there sound is full static...then take a look at their wiring and the power runs right along side the speaker wire...hmmm i wonder 😛
but yeah my next upgrade would probobly be to either eclipses or mbQuarts...in a sound room hooked up to a zapco amp they sounded pretty darn sweet...the quarts seemed to handle the lows better while the eclipeses were made more for highs/mids....at least thats how it soudned to me 😛

EDit jsut read your post better

You better get cocnerned...if u are going to spend good money on good speeakers you gotta have a good amp to power them cause unless you already got a decent amp there going to be useless and your stock system will ruin them :-/
