Where does AOL Instant Messenger store your Away Message listings?

I have a whole list of custom AIM Away messages that I use to put up when I'm in class, out to eat, etc. When I reinstall Windows XP however, I haven't found of a way to save those away messages. I tried copying the whole directory and then restoring it upon reinstallation (i.e., copying the AIM folder to Program Files BEFORE installing AIM after a clean install of XP, and copying the saved AIM folder over the new install of AIM). Neither one works :(

I hate typing in my away messages all over again. Is there a way to conveniently save them all??

Hope it helps!

Thanks uncouth! I've been wondering about that, and I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread. Good job!

Always gotta backup many parts of your register before reinstalling Windows.. saves a lotta neat stuff you use in small programs. Personally for AIM, I export the entire HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\America Online\AOL Instant Messenger (TM)\CurrentVersion\ key and save it on my backup drive for importation after my reformat. This way I don't even have to type in my screen name, change my fonts back, or anything. Here's to being lazy!
