Where does a 4.2ghz Xeon E5640 come in terms of raw CPU speed?

It's X58, it's not quite comparable to Core i7 Nehalem as it's 32nm and has a way larger L3 cache of 12mb, and it has a superior memory controller.

These CPU's if you have the board can go further than 4.2ghz, i'm at 4.2 on just 1.3v which is low voltage for 32nm.

Some notes i am using GTX 670 in PCI-E 1 to extend screens, and the numbers for core speed are not correct in Cinebench, i have C states enabled so the CPU does spool up and down also.

Interestingly single core performance at 4.2 beats the FX 8 core at 5ghz.

Interestingly the XEON is the best LGA 1366 gaming CPU, the L3 cache blows the doors off the original Core i7, yet it has exactly the same IPC. First vid is limited by GTX 660, even then the gains in game are quite large.

And the reason i bought this setup..
