Nikon Precision. We make and repair lithography machines for Intel. (among others) Every time Intel tells you that line width is getting smaller, it's because our machines are getting better.
Superwonbat - that's real interesting because I"m currently in a class called "engineering materials for the electronic age" which deals a lot with lithography and trasistors and stuff. It all fascinates me so much. Do you enjoy your work?
Currently I work in front of the computer I'm at right now doing school stuff (time for a job? are you kidding me?)
Stallion I work for a company that does precision machining of components for fuel and hydraulic systems that go on Boeing Aircraft along with other commercial/military aircraft, nuclear subs and medical prosthetics and life support devices.
Fathom5 ,so what is your employer called? What type of machines do you run. Ours are Cincinnati Milicron and we also have a bunch(about30) Ingersol spar mills.
I work for Dupont Photomask Inc.
By the way Stallion, I used to do the shot peening and stringer press work on those wing panels at the Boeing plant in Wichita back in the 70's.
Stallion, I work for Advance Turning. Aircraft components and welded sub-assemlies are suppied to Aeroquip Corp.(Eaton/Aeroquip now). They supply directly to Boeing.
As far as machines, we use Cincinnati and Mazak machining centers, Mazak and Hardinge Super-Precision lathes.
Our website. Here's a link to our website, it's in it's early stages we haven't had much time to work with it yet. Small company and we all wear lot's of hats.
TonyH, we do all the shot peening of the panals and spars we cut now. Our building was built in the late 70s so I wonder if the work moved out to here from there. I did manual shootpeening a long time ago but have never ran one of the automated machines.
Fathom5, all our Mazak machines are in a different building. All of the skin mills are just 3 axis except for one 5 axis tooling mill and the spar mills are 5 axis. The neat thing is all our mill beds are over 160 foot long so they look pretty cool but the job sure does get boring.
Stallion,
The panels we did were the ones we cut in house. We had all six of the 737, the center section for the 727, and also the full set on the KC135.
I'm an assistant manager in an auto parts store. I have a home business in computer building and repair... I know it could be more
exciting, but it pays the bills amongst other things.
